So we all know that the maximum hydration method aka MHM is a lot of work and very time consuming but the benefits are great. If you have aborted the MHM like me or you have not even tried it because of time constraints but your hair is quite dry and can do with a bit more moisture, then you may want to read on because there is salvation for your hair after all. Instead of the MHM, enter GHE or BM,simply put, the Green House Effect or the Baggy Method respectively.

One of the challenges of natural hair is detangling in a very efficient way such that you do not lose much hair from breakage. Removing shed hairs and knots should be the only outcome. However, this is easier said than done. Techniques are invented and tested to make the detangling process as less traumatic as possible. As always, no two heads are the same and what works for someone may not exactly work for you but may still give you an idea on how to do it when working on your own hair. So, in the video below, I show you how I finger detangle my hair especially after removing a protective style. This is when there are more shed hairs than normal and the hair tends to lock together. They say our strands love each other so much such that they always want to hug. And if you keep them hugging for too long, separating them may break them. So that is when we need a very good slip product that can help the separation not to be so traumatic.
Hey guys. In this post, I want to let you know about how to deal with scalp psoriasis, minimise flare ups and how to minimise hair loss. This is a follow up post to Scalp Psoriasis And Natural Hair. Let’s get right into it.
I love summer. No more layers of clothes just to feel warm and my hair flourishes in the humidity of rainy weather. So me and my hair are happy. But wait a minute, summer brings much more than that and our hair may suffer damage instead of flourishing if certain precautions are not taken. In the midst of the beautiful hot African sun, plenty weddings and end of year parties, you want to still take care of your hair to make sure breakage is minimized as much as possible.
Hey folks. So I managed to record how I apply the Cherry Lola – Caramel treatment which is used as a first step in the MHM. This is my third time doing it and I absolutely love it. With my extremely frizzy crown, I really need a boost of moisture and this treatment is basically what it does to my hair. I really love it and plan to do it once a month or two from now on. The ingredients included in my treatment are not all that are mentioned on the MHM website so I would advise if you can, to get the whole batch of products. I just use what I have and don’t stress about what I don’t have. My mixture works just fine for me though.

Winter is upon us folks and for a girl like me who knows how much havoc these dry winter months can wreck on her strands, I know, it is time to switch things around and make sure my hair stays healthy throughout winter and beyond. For some us, great, healthy hair doesn’t just happen. We need to invest some time and effort into it. But for some people, knowing what to do is the key point. They are not lazy to put in the hours, but knowing where to direct their effort sometimes is the real deal. So here are my & tips which are going to be expounded in later posts.
You know I have been on a Healthy, Thicker Longer hair challenge since the beginning of March 2014 and I have been posting weekly updates that became fortnightly and now I think once every month is more sustainable as I have other stuff to post on besides my hair escapades. So, I am going to round up April which is my second month on the #HTL hair challenge in this post and my next update will be towards the end of May 2014 with a length check as well. So far so good I can say although there are a number of frustrations and setback here and there. However, my hair is improving quite a lot and I have a lot of new growth which is much thicker and healthier. Am so excited already for how my hair will be like after 6 months or 12 months. For some background on this hair challenge, please read, #HTL Hair challenge. As I said my hair is improving and my edges are growing in as well. It kind of feels like transitioning because I am dealing with two different textures already, as in one which is massively thick and the other quite weak and fragile. Although this development brings joy to me, it has brought with it some challenges which I will discuss in a bit. I am not doing any length check this far. I will only do at the end of May which will mark my end of month 3 on this challenge. Not sure if it is some placebo thing going on, but I do feel my hair is indeed growing thicker and longer.
You keep moisturising your hair but somehow it just feels dry and there seems to be no end to dry hair days. You have all the products the bloggers, vloggers and frinds are raving about but for you, nothing seems to be getting to your thirsty strands. You have stopped using all the products that have been demonized by the Natural hair community but there seems to be no change on what you see on yours. You are frustrated and rightfully so, at your crown that just seems to have a mind of its own and is evidently rebelling against you the carer and wearer. Stop there! Are you using those products well? You see type 4 hair can be very porous and so retaining the much needed moisture will need more tactic and science. One of the tactics you can use to arm twist your strands to hold on to moisture (water) as long as possible is the LOC method.
Hey folks. I am loving how my hair appears fuller in this all-week-raining going on in Johannesburg. At least today there is some sunshine but the air is quite humid and my tresses are loving it. Oh forgot to mention, I was in twists, kind of medium twists for about a week and a half. I took them out last night and am wearing my hair out today. What I loved about the twists I had this time is they took me about an hour to install and less than an hour to take down. Because I only had them in for a short period of time, it took less than 30 minutes to decently detangle using a leave-in conditioner. Yes I was really sad to take them down so soon. I will explain later. First, this is how I am wearing my hair today. Kind of love the body and how my hair feels in this humid weather. My hair feels soft, well moisturised, healthy and everything just feels so good. This is the love part of my relationship with humid weather
