Wash n go, how to maintain it

by Evenes Ruth Mafupa

The question I am asked most when I wear my hair in a wash n go is how long I keep it in for. Well, the most I have done is 8 days and that is because I wash my hair weekly and when I go over a week without washing my hair, my scalp itches. So, by day 8, I’m so done. That is the reason I wash my hair even when I have a protective style on. But, of course, if I wash a wash n go, the hairstyle disappears automatically.

I mainly use Eco styler gel for wash n go’s and this time around, the ladies at Nashe Hair Studio helped me out do this one. Does it flake? Yes. After 5 or so days, it starts to flake and I have 2 options. To wash my hair completely and bid my wash n go farewell or, to spray a bit of water on the flaky section and then massage my hair nicely until the ugly flaky stuff disappears and then restyle my hair because, after spraying some water and the followed massage, the curl definition will not be the same as the before manipulation. So, when the choice is not washing my hair, what I do is what is in the video, step by step. This way, one can stretch a wash n go for over 2 weeks even. I heard. I haven’t tried it out myself.

So, go ahead. Watch the video and let me know what you think.

And here are some pictures when I was on day 5 with my wash n go which is the day I filmed the video.
