Hey loves! I’ve now gone a full 5 years after my last relaxer. Yay!!! This is my January 2016 hair update video and I also share with you a few tips on what helped my hair to recover from post partum shedding. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that I was also dusting my ends from time to time to take care of split ends.
Blessings

Ruth

Hey…
I need help with caring for my hair. It’s been falling out lately and I’m even thinking of cutting it.
Also, is it advisable to air dry my hair or use a blow dryer?

Ruth Mafupa 1 February 2016 - 09:26

Hey Tshepi. What may be causing the falling out? Air drying is better for the health of your hair but may not be ideal for some styles like straighter hair.

I think it may be because I always braid it and never let it rest. Or may be because of the inconsistent change in products

There you go. Take some time off braids and learn what your hair needs and responds well to. That way, you will not need to change products frequently and you’ll be supplying exactly what your hair needs. Protective styles all the time is not good for your follicles in the long run. All the best with your hair.

Hey I need help with my hair. Its short but very strong.I want her like yours. How do I soften it up but remaining natural?

Ruth Mafupa 10 February 2016 - 10:50

I use Shea butter to help soften it and also make it more manageable. Deep conditioning is a must for my hair as well. I hope that answers your question.

Hi ruth! how does one use sheabutter twist and shine. Do you wash hair then massage it to the scalp?over night?

Ruth Mafupa 22 February 2016 - 12:57

Hi. Twist & Shine can be used on the hair after washing to seal moisture and as a styling aid when doing twists. It can also be used before threading the hair. It can be used on dry hair for sheen but at this time, only a little need to be used so that there is no product build up. It can also be applied to the scalp to help with a dry itchy scalp or dandruff and very little need to be used as well.

Hi Ruth.

Is black silk relaxer good for Afro hair? It doesn’t make it straight does it?

Ruth Mafupa 20 May 2016 - 11:22

Hi Ntombi. I have not heard about it and I don’t know it’s effects. You can do your research and do it thorough so that you don’t live to regret after using it. All the best

Hello Ruth.
My baby has really coarse hair and as a result, hair day is a nightmare for both of us as I need to hold her down to get anywhere with doing her hair. I have also struggled with my hairline since I have had her, it just wont fully grow back. I currently have a clean short hair cut, but combing it is so painful. Please help?
