I twisted my hair. Again. No matter how much I want to stay from mini twists, I just end up doing them hey. This is mainly because I have mastered how to do them myself so they are a cheap option. The other thing is, they are very easy and fast to undo and styling them every morning is not as time consuming as free hair. They are a very good protective, low manipulation style as well and although they frustrate me sometimes because my hair is unable to keep them looking smart for at least a month, it is my go to protective style. And, this time around, I did them a little different from the previous times to try and combat the problem areas of our relationship.
Firstly, I flat twisted my sides on a Saturday and went for about two days in that style. Then I did the two strand twists at the back and left my bangs free still. This style carried me through the rest of the week.
The next week, I twisted the rest of my hair and that took me through the second week and beyond.
I only washed my hair after two weeks but I am spritzing my hair twice a day still. This time I am using two spritz bottles. The one has water, Vera juice and Tea Tree oil to take care of the dandruff and soothe my scalp and the other one has my normal water and oil spritz for moisture.
This time I am going to try to keep them in for about a month by redoing the front part at a weekly interval or as and when my hair needs it and I have the time to do them
Till then, enjoy the rest of the week.
Cheers.

Very nice, all your hair styles for that matter. I’m still trying to master doing my hair while I continue with my life, if you know what I mean. It takes at least 4 hours to wash and moisturize, never mind styling it properly, smh!
Thanks Tyarah. I know what you mean. That is the reason I did my twists in parts this time around. I just could not find the time to do them all at once. Even washing my hair and moisturizing is done in parts for me these days
so good to see this. I googled ”African Natural Hair sites” this evening and the first 4 or so pages were African-American…
Anyway, I found your site a while ago and really think you give good advice and I like your hair styles.
Hoorah for Team Natural Africa! lol
Thanks Sibongile. Hooray for team natural Africa for sure.
[…] to week four with twists in. Yes week four. I am so proud of myself. As I mentioned in the previous post just before this one, one of my frustrations with two strand twists is my hair’s inability to […]
I’ve been looking for a natural hair blog/site forever…(based in south Africa that is). I gave up on relaxing my hair and have been natural for 4 months now…. I’m so glad I found this site!!
