Hey folks. Met one of Natural Sisters’ readers at a wedding in Durban. I had come all the way from Johannesburg and she was coming from Cape Town only to meet in Durban. How cute life presents itself sometimes. I thought I had lost the photos I was taken with Nicole in Durban so I was not going to be able to share with you. But then, some time last week, I noticed I had already saved them before my handbag was stolen in September. I was at the wedding on the 30th of August. Real awesome time.
I like how it often happens when someone approaches me to say they read this blog. Let me tell you how it happened. My family was invited to go for the wedding. The groom is a family friend and I so much wanted to go. I am so crazy over weddings. I just love the atmosphere and will go out of my way to make sure I am there. My hubby could not make it for this particular one and I decided to drive down to Durban with our youngest son. We left around 3.30 a.m. on the Saturday, the morning of the wedding and got to the venue at around 9.30 a.m. We waited for the ceremony to start and thankfully, the time keeping was brilliant. Since I had a toddler to keep steady and quiet in during the whole ceremony, we sat right at the back as a safety measure, incase he decides to start singing right at the time when the preacher is preaching. And just before everything started, Nicole and her family came and sat close to us. I later learnt that Nicole’s hubby was friends with the groom as well. I am sure when she had already sat, that’s when she noticed that she had seen me before and then, as if she was not sure how I was going to take it, she says, “Hi. I know you don’t know me but I read your blog quite a lot.” Humbled cannot describe enough how I felt. Once she said her name, I was even more thrilled because I knew her name from all the comments she has left on the blog. That moment when you can finally connect a name to a face or rather a person. Awesome.
Later she told me how the blog has helped her to take charge of caring for her hair and her daughter’s as well who is also natural. It is such a grateful feeling and it made me so satisfied to know that when I sit down to write and share hair tips and more, there is someone at the other end who is reading and benefiting from my posts. It is not all in vain. Needless to say, their hair was looking great and thriving.
Thank you Nicole for saying “Hi” and let me say it again that it was great to finally meet you. Thank you for your support on the blog and all the comments you made. Thank you.
I drove back to Johannesburg that night and got home at 3.30 a.m on the Sunday. I was a literal zombie on the Sunday because I was so sleepy. Had a wonderful time at the wedding and I am glad I attended. The food was awesome and the wedding couple was as beautiful as ever.
And some pictures. Disclaimer. I did not take my camera out of fear of not being able to handle my hyper active toddler and the camera without dropping the camera or him crying so that I can let him use the camera. So I ended up using my phone and for some reason, the battery was almost out so it could not use the flash.
