Hey you all. I HOPE I find you well and today we have HOPE in the house. Yey! this is so amazing. You know, I have so much wanted to interview Hope on her hair journey for quite some time and finally here it is, an exclusive from the owner and founder of HopefulInteriors. Let me admit. I have known Hope for about five years or so and the first time I saw her Fro, I was really taken back. It was so awesome and well taken care of I can say. It was looking really great and right there I knew I also wanted natural healthy hair like hers. She is one of those people who inspired me to go natural and when I was transitioning, I still remember asking her for some tips and didn’t those tips work hey? Anyway without pre-emptying the interview, let’s get on with it.
shea butter
This morning I noticed the trees around our home are shedding their leaves. Winter is fast approaching friends and mornings and evenings are becoming colder and colder. Just this past week, it was so cold in Johannesburg we had to wear winter boots and all. This just reminded me to make up my mind on how I will take care of my hair this coming winter to minimize breakage. Below are tips on how you can take care of your mane this winter.
Hey there. How are you today? I am posting this as a reply to a set of questions a fellow sister asked me on our facebook page recently and I knew the answer would be very long so I am answering the questions here so everyone may benefit at once. Her questions go:
“… Wanted to buy oil since I’ve never used any need to know what’s best olive or coconut…..?”
In West, Central and also East Africa, Shea nuts are harvested by mainly women; from the Shea tree which is also known as the Karite (life) tree and they are crushed and ground to produce the raw Shea butter that is so loved by many for food, making soap, candles, ointments and also as a moisturizer for skin and hair. Although I heard about Shea butter some two years ago, it’s only recently that I managed to land my hands on a jar of raw Shea Butter from Kenya. Today I want to share with you what I experienced and also researched on the benefits of Shea Butter.
There are days when I just won’t be bothered about much hair handling especially if I have a lot of things to do on my schedule. Such a day was yesterday. I wore this hairstyle mainly because I was busy and it was a day before wash day so I thought of just putting my hair up into a bun. But there was a problem. Not a new problem though but something I was hoping had resolved. This problem is, my hair is not long enough to hold it all in a bun at the back of my head. And since I did not want a high bun, I had to make do with this “twist” to the bun and I mean it literally. Today I want to share with you how I went around doing this to come up with something with the length that I have. This style is also great as a protective style because the ends are tucked away and protected from the weather elements.
