I posted the video below on my channel on You Tube some weeks back and forgot to put it up here on the blog. Anyways here it is. It is about my experience at Ethnic Tangles Hair & beauty Salon at Wendywood Shopping Center, in Wendywood, Sandton, Johannesburg.
I went to have Crochet braids/weave done and it was an awesome experience. I was quite anxious at first because I hadn’t gone into a hair salon to have my hair done in four years. That was before I met Vanessa at Ethnic Tangles Hair & Beauty Salon who took the time to listen to me to understand what exactly I wanted done to my hair and made me feel comfortable and have confidence in her that she wasn’t about to ruin my healthy hair efforts.
My hair was washed using my Natural Moisture products and then Vanessa proceeded to cornrow my hair without blow drying it. This was quite a relief because I have not used heat to straighten my hair in more than 18 months. Although I am planning to use heat soon, this was not the day. Her plaiting was very soft as well on my sensitive scalp so that was another plus. The Marley hair that we used to do the crochet weave was pre-curled before installing and this meant no curling the hair after the installation was complete. After about 3 hours, she was done and my hair looked awesome, beautiful and on point.
Please watch the video and let me know what you think.
I kept the protective style on my hair for a little over two weeks mainly because I was travelling to Zimbabwe for a meet up and mostly at hair events, I like taking my real hair out. Otherwise, I am sure I could have kept it in for four weeks or more. Next time maybe.
Ethnic Tangles Hair & Beauty salon stocks Natural Moisture products by the way and more training is on the cards for them to become fully confident in handling natural hair so that naturals can also enjoy the luxury of having their hair washed at a salon without fear of a major hair setback. What I liked most about the stylists at Ethnic Tangles hair & beauty salon is their willingness to work with the client and doing exactly what the client requires. Their eagerness to learn how to handle natural hair made me comfortable as well because, instead of the war of words that is normally a result of you stating what you want done and how you want it done, it was a cool and welcoming experience.
If you live close to Wendywood Shopping Center and you need your hair done, please do visit these ladies and don’t shy away from telling them exactly what you want done with your hair. They listen.
Many Blessings to you and all you care for!
